£1.7 million in annual Christmas giving campaign

The Julia Rausing Trust is pleased to announce it has made a series of grants totalling £1.7 million as part of its annual seasonal giving campaign. A total of 65 charities from across the country have received support for work tackling homelessness, financial hardship, food insecurity, and women and children in need.

This year, the Trust placed particular emphasis on smaller charities supporting their local communities, with the majority of grants made to regional causes in Gloucestershire, east Cheshire, and London.

The largest grants this year include:

  • Comic Relief’s Appeal with the Evening Standard, supporting people experiencing homelessness
  • The Big Give’s Christmas Campaign, the UK’s biggest collaborative fundraising campaign, helping a range of causes from global poverty and gender equality to climate change and mental wellbeing
  • Hotel School’s work empowering people who have experienced homelessness and other disadvantages to thrive in the hospitality industry
  • Glass Door’s Winter Night Shelter Project, providing emergency winter shelter to those experiencing or at risk of homelessness

Simon Fourmy, Chief Executive of The Julia Rausing Trust said, “Supporting vulnerable people and those experiencing homelessness, particularly during the winter months, has always been central to Julia Rausing’s giving. This year, we’re proud to continue that commitment with a strong focus on community-based charities, particularly in areas of our geographic focus.

Our Christmas seasonal giving is now in its seventh year and we are pleased to continue this campaign.”

Jeremy Goring, Co-Founder and Trustee of Hotel School and Chief Executive of The Goring, said, “We are deeply grateful to The Julia Rausing Trust for this incredible support and for being part of their longstanding commitment to vulnerable people and those experiencing homelessness. With the Trust’s support, Hotel School will be able to expand our impact at a time of ever-growing need.

This donation will enable us to keep developing a growing programme that delivers even more lasting impact for both individuals and the hospitality industry more broadly. It is an honour to be included in this vital winter campaign and we are all profoundly appreciative of the Trust’s belief in our students, the charity’s mission and the transformative power of hospitality.”

Jo Carter, CEO of Glass Door Homeless Charity, said, “The generosity of The Julia Rausing Trust is making an immediate and life-changing difference for people experiencing homelessness in London. Thanks to this grant, we can provide not only emergency winter shelter and nutritious meals, but also dedicated casework that helps people take real steps towards stability. It gives people hope, dignity, and the chance to move into a safer, more secure future.”
