Mission

The Julia Rausing Trust exists to realise the philanthropy of Sir Hans Rausing and honour the memory of Julia Rausing.

Sir Hans Rausing is one of the UK’s foremost philanthropists, having given to a wide range of charitable causes through the Julia Rausing Trust and its predecessor trusts since the 1990s. The philanthropic funds originate from the sale of the family interests in Tetra Pak, the global food packaging group.

In June 2025, Hans Rausing was honoured with a knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours List for services to the Arts. More information about Hans is on the Hans Rausing website.

The aim of funding given through the Julia Rausing Trust is to benefit people within the UK by supporting charitable organisations and initiatives that foster a healthy society, give care to those in need, provide opportunity for all, and offer inspiring cultural engagement.

The Trust gives within a broad strategic framework, in the themes of Arts and Heritage; Education; Health and Welfare. We believe in being agile and responding proactively to emerging issues and need, rather than setting a rigid multi-year strategy. This allows us to have purpose with flexibility, facilitating evolution and reframing of our priorities and programmes as need evolves.
