£3 million to support Trussell food banks

The Julia Rausing Trust today announces a £3 million grant to be given over the next three years to anti-poverty charity Trussell to support food banks across the UK.
At a time when high levels of need and a shifting financial landscape are creating significant challenges, this grant will help food banks continue providing emergency food and support to people facing hardship.
Across the three years, the funding will be provided directly to local food banks, enabling them to plan for the future, build fundraising partnerships, strengthen governance, and make structural improvements to their operating models to ensure greater resilience for years to come. The funding will be accompanied by advice and support from Trussell.
Matthew van Duyvenbode, co-chief executive at Trussell, said: “The last few years have presented a range of complex challenges for food banks. As well as seeing a rising number of people experiencing hunger and hardship in their communities, they are also having to battle against the rising costs of things like keeping the lights on.
“This generous funding from The Julia Rausing Trust will allow food banks the breathing space to focus on what will keep them going in the medium term as we all work together to end hunger in the UK in the long term.”
Simon Fourmy, Chief Executive of The Julia Rausing Trust, said: “We are proud to continue supporting Trussell in their mission to end hunger. The growing scale of need is deeply concerning, and we are pleased to be helping food banks that provide a vital lifeline to people experiencing hardship. We hope our contribution inspires others to support the essential work of charities addressing food insecurity.”
