Youth Centre Recovery Fund

The Youth Centre Recovery Fund was established by Julia and Hans Rausing in 2021 to help charities running youth centre’s to be able to survive and recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A total of £6.5m was awarded to successful applicants, providing funding towards core costs of running youth centre’s and delivering youth work during 2021. A further £1.5m was made available via UK Youth to support other small, local youth centre’s that may not have been eligible to the main Fund.
The aim of the Fund was to ensure youth centres remained viable and were able to re-open or continue to deliver services as the country emerged from Covid-19 restrictions.

The pandemic and concomitant actions taken to combat it had a negative impact on young people’s mental health and life chances, especially for those from less advantaged backgrounds. As such, it was crucial that charities running youth clubs were able to continue to provide support and opportunities for young people.
In total, 148 charities shared grants to the value of £6.5m. Grants ranged in size from £752 to over £400,000. The average grant amount was £43,000.
